Teligent Telecom, the leading supplier of value added services to telecom operators, has been awarded a major contract for convergent next generation messaging system in Western Africa. The contract is a strategic order for Teligent Telecom for a continued expansion amongst African telecom operators.

The next generation messaging system from Teligent Telecom integrates both fixed and mobile messaging services on a single and fully redundant configuration. The system is prepared to support IP telephony (Voice over IP), allowing the operator to reuse the investment when migrating to next generation network.

The Teligent next generation messaging system is deployed on a state-of-the-art telecom platform, Teligent P90/E, which enable convergence with existing networks, services and other communication systems.

The telecom operator has more than one million users in Western Africa and the new messaging services will be fully implemented and migrated in September 2009. Its customers will now benefit from a robust voice mail service – and the operator itself will see its revenue increase since the Teligent solution provides additional call completion functionality.
